SWIMMING LESSONS

The size of our pool allows us to provide lessons for children ages 3-18 and of all swimming abilities concurrently.  Lessons are held for approximately 2 weeks beginning in mid-June at either 9:30 am or 10:30 am and run for 45 minutes.  Lessons are available to pool members at a fee of $10 per child.

2023 Swimming Lesson Dates - June 15 - June 30, Monday-Friday

Lessons begin with test day.  During this short session, a staff member will work with each child to determine the appropriate station at which the child should begin their official lesson the next day.  Children have the opportunity to advance through the stations (other than Advanced Beginner and Intermediate) during the two week period, as the instructors see fit.  Stations are as follows:
  • Station 1 - Entry into pool via the steps, place face in water and blow bubbles, submerge under water while holding breath
  • Station 2 - Float on belly with face in water
  • Station 3 - Float on back
  • Station 4 - Float on belly while kicking legs (with legs relatively straight)
  • Station 5 - Swim with kicking legs and arms going in circular/windmill motion
  • Station 6 - Swim with kicking legs, proper arms (as above), and breathing to one side
  • Station 7 - Swim with proper form as above across the length of the pool
  • Station 8 - Swim length of pool with proper form, basic rescue techniques, survival floating, and treading water
  • Advanced Beginner - Fine tune crawl stroke (freestyle) as learned in Beginner stations, learn elementary backstroke, diving and underwater swimming
  • Intermediate - Continue to fine tune crawl stroke, elementary backstroke, and diving, learn breaststroke and sidestroke

Swimming lessons conclude with a Fabulous Friday filled with fun times on the sliding board, diving board, and canoe rides.
